About this project

Smile Enterprise POS is a Full-stack Windows desktop app for running a grocery till. It's built with Electron and starts its own Express server and SQLite database on the shop computer, so sales don't depend on an internet connection or a hosted server. At the till, the cashier scans a barcode or searches for a product, and the sale builds up on screen with the subtotal and 16% VAT worked out as items go in. The customer can pay by cash, card or mobile money. For cash, the cashier enters the amount tendered and the app shows the change due. Each sale is saved in a single database transaction that checks stock, records the items and reduces the quantities together, so the inventory always matches what was sold. The owner side covers the rest of the shop. Products have categories, barcodes and minimum stock levels, and a stock alerts page lists anything running low or sold out. Reports show sales by payment method, the inventory's value, and a financial summary with revenue, VAT collected for ZRA, cost of goods and profit margin, all exportable to CSV. Cashiers and admins see different parts of the app: reports, users and settings are admin-only. Every important action is written to an audit log. A user manual covering the daily routine, from opening the shop to running reports, is built into the app.
